Better Places

In “Better Places”, Rasmussen explores how workplaces and communities can transform when built on foundations of compassion, authenticity, and mutual support. He draws on his own journey as CEO of Agile Six to show how deeply held values like Ahimsa (nonviolence), humanism, and empathy can guide decisions that go beyond profit. Instead of viewing business as a zero-sum game, Rasmussen contends we can create environments where people thrive together.

Throughout the book, he emphasizes the power of nonviolent communication, vulnerability, and relational honesty as central ingredients for meaningful work culture. Rather than suppressing tension or conflict, Rasmussen advocates for speaking truthfully while honoring the dignity and experience of others. He also argues for “willful interdependence” — choosing to weave together our strengths and needs rather than competing in isolation.

“Better Places” is both a memoir and a call to action. Rasmussen shares personal stories of struggle, growth, and cultural insight (including lessons from Norway), and then connects them to frameworks we can put into practice today. He invites readers—not just business leaders but anyone seeking deeper connection to build communities and workplaces that heal, uplift, and reflect our best selves.
