Red Rising

This book perfectly extracts all the best (and painfully stressful) elements of Game of Thrones and The Hunger Games. If you have trust issues, stay away from this series. If you love a good underdog story, it’s hard to imagine a fictional character having to overcome more than this protagonist, named Darrow.

 Darrow is born into the slave class of a futuristic society on Mars. At age 16, he’s spent his entire life beneath the surface mining for elements essential to terraforming Mars’ surface. It’s only once society completely beats him down and takes everything from him, he finds that the world isn’t what he thought it to be. He’s left with no choice but to harness his trauma in effort to change the world.

 This book is full of eccentric and pretentious characters, with an addictive breakneck pace.

“Red Rising” is the first book of an original trilogy, that’s now being expanded to a hepatology with this 7th book set to come out in 2026.
